Healthy ageing and how physical activity loves you back

A common challenge

Whilst physical activity is often linked to great childhood moments, we tend to become less active as we get older. Usually it’s the demands of adulthood that trigger our physically inactivity and, with it, a less healthy, happy and effective engagement with the world.

This is a book about healthy ageing. It’s about how reconnecting with physical activity boosts our chances of living a long and satisfying life.

However, this book is NOT about health promotion and prescription…with me telling you what to do. Rather, it’s about health activation and exploration…with me asking you what you’d most like to do.

I’ve written it that way because I assume you'll have some ideas about that, even if you might not think so to start with.

At the core of the book is a new 4-step Health Activation Process that will help you tune in to forms of physical activity that you like and prefer. Why? Because in order to get moving and keep moving your choices are always better guided by what you find most interesting and/or exciting.

Although the book is research-informed, it is written in a way that is accessible and engaging. I’ve aimed for something that’s real and relatable. A mixture of relevant health science and personal stories that complement each other, help bring the model to life, and guide you on the development of your very own healthy ageing project.
